Which market(s) are you currently operating?
Chicago North – four territories
What’s your background? What did you do before owning your ShelfGenie business?
Hospitality. Hotel management, and last 10 years VP of Hospitality with Ameristar Casino.
What made you decide to look into franchising?
After not identifying any existing business which turned me on. I was introduced to a Franchise specialist who provided me with four different franchises.
Why did you select ShelfGenie?
Loved the feedback from the franchisees on collaboration, the product quality, and the home office team was all engaged in their position and the company.
What sets ShelfGenie apart from some of the other franchises you looked at?
Power team cells, collaboration from the Zees, and the home office team.
What are some of the challenges you face in your franchise business?
What are your goals for the future?
$1 Million in revenue at the end of year four. Continue to build a solid team and referral partners.
What is one piece of advice you’d offer others in your position who are considering a franchise?
Ensure you have liquid capital, so you are not held back when opportunities are available. Do not expect to pay yourself year one. I really did not have any surprises with my business. I planned on the worst case and always achieved better results.
What are three personality traits and three occupation-related skills you must possess to run a business effectively?
1. Must be a people person.
